The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf (GCC) will discuss the issue of restoring Syria's full membership in the League of Arab States (LAS) at its meeting on Friday. Syria's membership in the Arab League was frozen in November 2011, after the start of the armed conflict in the country. The Arab League did not actually take part in the negotiations on a settlement in Syria. In 2019, it was reported that the Arab League discussed the possibility of returning Syria's place in the organization.
